Topu Lyo is a New York City based cellist who has performed in every setting imaginable. He can be found performing regularly across NYC, writing the music for off Broadway Productions, accompanying modern dance, recording, or teaching in his Williamsburg studio.

He was first introduced to the cello when he was eight by award winning luthier and teacher Anne Cole. Anne acted as a mentor, teacher and role model shaping his views of music . In music he found his self-confidence, humility, and work ethic. He has also studied with a variety of acclaimed teachers such as Nancy Green, Gordon Epperson, Einar Holm, Ed Friedland, and Thara Memory and participated in master classes with: Yo Yo Ma, Tokyo String Quartet,Guarneri Quartetand theAmerican Quartet.
